A B O U T

Sarah Hethcoat does what she says she is going to do. Driven with a force seldom seen today, Sarah works hard at her craft every free moment of the day. While others are waiting for success to be handed to them, Sarah is busy creating her own.

Sarah’s deep-rooted creativity was first discovered and explored through her study of the piano. And while she exemplified a great deal of talent as a pianist, Sarah wanted more. Never good at practicing scales and theory you would most often find Sarah writing and creating her own compositions.

At twelve Sarah began studying voice and truly started to excel. She soon found herself landing leading roles in the world of musical theatre. Sarah was frequently told by her mentors that she had talent and stage presence well beyond her tender years. After appearing in over 25 musicals; Sarah made a choice that would once again change her life.

As much as Sarah loved the stage, she felt she needed to venture outside of the characters she portrayed. She wanted to come into her own sound. She had her own stories to tell.

“I knew it was something I had to do, and I knew I could do it … I simply needed to make the choice,” Sarah says about her decision to stop doing theater and pursue her own writing. “No one ever told me I could do it. No one said this is how. It was just a feeling that wouldn’t go away. There was no other option. When I first moved to Los Angles I would write with who ever I could. I had a day job working in the music business. I learned a lot sitting behind that desk, but my perspective and experience was so different. It was never about anything other than doing what I am doing now; working my craft. Writing great songs with great people, and sharing them. Theatre had taught me the power of telling a good story, and that I had an ability to reach people through performance. I figured if I could apply what I’d learned in theatre to my own stories, it would work ☺.”

Sarah has spent 2008 building her live band and preparing her new EP Nobody Likes a Bully which was produced recently by famed producer Dave Cobb (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Chris Cornell). In addition she has been busy with live shows all over the Southern California area and will be showcasing her new material for the rest of the year and beyond.

“I believe you are only as good as your team. So whatever your role is, own it, trust it, it will lead you exactly where you’re supposed to be. I’m imperfect, yet absolutely perfect. I’m a believer, a dreamer, a fighter, a lover… Sometimes I don’t know when to let go; but I’m getting much better at knowing when! I’ve made plenty of mistakes, but I learn quick, and I pick myself up even quicker ;) I truly believe all you have is what you give. So it’s important to know what that is/means for you. For who you are, what you say, do or don’t; affects others. Just my thoughts! :)”
